Spielberg-A-Thon Part 21: The Lost World: Jurassic Park

The Lost World: Jurassic Park, the not all together very good sequel to the very brilliant Jurassic Park. I got a cold midway through recording this video, so I apologize if my already nasally voice sounds that much worse.

I wonder how many flames you're going to get for saying that Event Horizon sucked. Even though it did.

Yeah, I'll always just remember this movie for the special effects. I hated almost every character. Except, of course, you know who.

The feedback I've received on this one has been strange. People were annoyed that I knocked Event Horizon, yes, but more people were mad that I knocked Jurassic Park 3! WTF?!

How could anybody defend Jurassic Park 3. It was as bad as Jurassic Park 2, except it wasn't directed by Spielberg, so there was really nothing at all to like about it.

There isn't a single movie I could hate or praise that wouldn't piss at least a few hundred people off.

You're right about this movie, and like you I shamelessly enjoy the ending where the Rex comes to the mainland, but my favorite sene in the whole film is probably the one leading up to the ship carrying the Rex crashing into the dock. It was well set up, using the radar position of the ship to build suspense, and the pay off where the camera pans from the radar to the outside and the massive ship emerges from an opaque bank of fog in a single shot was just incredible to watch. It built more suspense than most of the dinosaurs in the film if you ask me. If only the whole movie had been that awe inspiring.

Best Warren Zevon song.

This movie is good if you watch it as a dark comedy.
