Battle Los Angeles

This movie has the plot of a videogame, and was about as entertaining as it would be to watch somebody else play it. A neat premise involving a somewhat realistic view of an alien invasion filmed like a war movie could have risen above the threadbare plot and cliched story points, but unfortunately the script was mediocre and the directing was flat, leaving little to recommend it other than a few good acting performances and some not too bad action sequences.

And... that's all I have to say about Battle Los Angeles, other than that I can't say I was too disappointed since everybody agreed that it was terrible, but even then it wasn't worth the one dollar rental fee from the Redbox machine. Skip it.

I've seen some previews that look interesting. I blinked and missed the movie when it was in theaters. Periodically, I almost cave and buy the DVD, but the price stops me. $28.95 "discounted" to $17.99 for a single disc -- very resistible.

I've seen mention of what I think is the direct-to-video sequel, "Battle: New York - Day 2." It's supposed to be released near the end of August, 2011. Kind of surprising that a sequel was made so quickly, since I've heard nothing but mediocre things about "Battle: Los Angeles." Have you heard anything about "Battle: New York - Day 2"?

Never heard of it. Let's hope it's better than Starship Troopers 2.

Whoa. I think Starship Troopers 2 may be an Oscar contender for best picture compared to Battle: New York - Day 2, if anything on IMDB is even vaguely true about the new film. No synopsis. A budget lower than an Asylum Films mockbuster, and -- I kid you not -- one of the characters is listed as being a zombie. Yeah ...

Zombies are comedy gold.

I don't agree. I think this was an action packed movie, leaving me on the edge of my seat for much of the film. The acting was realistic and oscar worthy...and I am not even into war movies.
