(Robots) Wouldn't Want to be Like You: A Video Tribute to the Greatest Robots of All Time

Here's a video tribute I put together in honor of my favorite robots, androids, cyborgs, and artificial humans from film and TV, and of the Alan Parsons Project album I Robot.

Why? Why not?

Were these your favorite robots, or EVERY robot?

I wanted to have a built-in excuse in case I got an email like, "Where the hell is Brit Bot from episode 132 of Doctor Who?!"

Also, laughing out loud at the Superman 3 thing. What a weird fucking movie.

I actually never intended to include that scene from Superman III, but I found the footage when I was searching for something else on youtube (I can't remember what), and realized that was the best moment in movie history. Pretty sure I ended up giving that scene more time in the video than anything else, except for maybe the intro with the robot from Metropolis.

The weird thing about youtube is the disparity between the comments from people who say my videos are the worst thing ever and the jerks who post just to tell me that my voice makes them want to rip my voicebox out of my throat. That was an actual comment somebody left once. Hold on... let me find the exact wording...

"STOP TALKING... that will help a lot. If you need to have narration, have someone ELSE write it and someone ELSE do the voiceover. Can't watch this anymore. ANNOYING... I wanna reach into your throat and pull your vocal cords out.. KALIMAAAAAAAA "

Ouch. Also, you can't post anything to the internet without being called a fag at least once. Those once I delete, if only because they use offensive language. The above one I kept because it's funny, and I don't necessarily disagree with it.

That persons Youtube response actually made me laugh...KALIMAA! (what?), but not as much as that scene with Data's big ridiculous smile.

What was that first movie? It's clearly old but it is extremely well done.

That comment was left on my "top ten Indiana jones death scenes" video, so he was quoting mola ram. That doesn't make it any less harsh.

That first movie is Metropolis. If you've never seen it, it's worth checking out. It's pretty neat.
